In 1913, Scottish lithographer Thomas Stevenson was recruited by the Strobridge Lithograph Company in Cincinnati, Ohio to help transition the company from letterpress to offset lithography, a technique he had mastered in Europe. Thomas remained with Strobridge until the end of 1925. Based on the belief that "the only foundation of real business is service," Thomas founded the Stevenson Photo Color Separations Company in 1926. Originally providing camera work to a variety of lithographers in Cincinnati, the company grew and evolved over the next six decades as his son Thomas Jr. and grandson William expanded the business through consistent performance and key relationships in the printing, publishing, and packaging industries.
Today there is still a very real sense of family at Stevenson as the company is currently operated by the fourth generation. The vision of the company is not to be the biggest graphics company in the world, but to provide exemplary service to those customers who choose Stevenson as a partner. Operating based on traditional values, Stevenson considers its customers part of the family, and seeks to develop a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership in which both companies thrive. The company’s mission statement reflects these sentiments: "At Stevenson we are passionate about our customer’s success. Through creative solutions, graphics expertise and consistent quality, we become their partner of choice."
